Note before you proceed:
  • Your mobile phone will be out of warranty, if once rooted.
  • Ensure full battery charge before rooting. If the battery drains up while rooting, your mobile may have chance of becoming permanently dead.
  • Go to Settings >> Applications >> Development >> Enable USB Debugging.
  • Follow the steps correctly and carefully.
Rooting your Samsung Galaxy Y :
  1. Download the package from here(Size: 2.155 MB, Zip file)
  2. Copy the downloaded update.zip file to your microSD card as it is & Switch off the phone.
  3. Now by pressing the volume up key + home key, press the power button until it goes into recovery mode.
  4. Select apply update from SD card and locate the update.zip file you copied to the microSD card.
  5. Press power button to select the option.
  6. Wait for few seconds for the complete rooting.
  7. Select Reboot now to restart the device.
  8. Now your phone has successfully rooted. Check for the Superuser icon to confirm root.
