#ProjectAra is the code name for an initiative by Google that aims to develop an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones with structural framework. The platform enables users to choose a hardware module of there choice, such as camera, battery, etc.

You will be definitely surprised. Ara is the name of lead mechanical designer of this project, and the team suggested the name for this project as they like him so much :p .
- When Ara device going to be launched, what will be the cost?
As this a pilot project and is in development stage only. Google is yet to make this a official product. The Ara devices will run on Android operating system. These devices is expected to be in the range of $50-100 at entry level and may priced less or more depending on the components and the carrier contract prices by the manufacturers.
